Driving a taxi round the mean streets of
Kettering can be stressful as it gets but if there is one thing that really winds
me up more than anything it’s when you are following one of those really beat
up small 1000cc cars that travel around at 20mph even though there is nothing
else on the road! Why are they driving
so slowly? It’s because (I suspect) that
the 18 to 19 year old kid behind the drivers wheel has had a drink, can’t afford
the taxi fare home and has decided to take the risk of getting stopped while
being under the influence. It’s amazing
to see so many of these kinds of drivers around in the wee hours, if I were a
Police man I would certainly pull them over it is so obvious why they are
driving so slowly (it’s got nothing to do with safety) because I see these same
drivers bombing around at 45 in a 30mph zone in the day time! They
think they stand a better chance of not being pulled over because they are traveling
at 20mph, in the mean time I am stuck behind them for up to 3 miles trying to
get back to the rank in the town, oh to be a traffic police man on a Saturday
night!
